A celebrated harbourside restaurant in a relocated historic house, serving refined Icelandic seafood and lamb with views toward Kirkjufell.

Bjargarsteinn occupies a small wooden house that was transported some 140 kilometres from Akranes to Grundarfjörður’s harbour, where it now serves some of the most acclaimed food on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. It is ranked #1 of the town’s restaurants on Tripadvisor.

The kitchen blends local culinary tradition with contemporary technique, building dishes around seafood landed just offshore and Icelandic lamb. Diners consistently praise the fresh salmon, seafood soup, mussels and the warm service, all enjoyed against a backdrop of mountains and coastline near iconic Mount Kirkjufell. Booking ahead is strongly advised.
