On a farm that’s been in the same family for around 130 years, Vogafjós Restaurant sits right beside the cowshed on the eastern shore of Lake Mývatn — a glass window lets diners watch the cows being milked as they eat.
The kitchen has championed local, homemade food since 1999: smoked trout, slow-cooked lamb, mozzarella and cheese made from the farm’s own milk, and Geysir rye bread baked underground.
It’s one of the most genuine farm-to-table experiences in Iceland and a natural stop on the Mývatn loop.
