The caldera walls are layered in deep red and black volcanic rock streaked with green moss, dropping steeply to a vivid turquoise-green lake at the bottom. Walk the rim for panoramic views or take the path down to the water’s edge. On certain summer evenings, musicians perform concerts here — floating on a boat on the lake — because the crater’s acoustics are extraordinary.
