Discover the natural wonders of North Iceland with our expertly curated small group tour of Lake Mývatn and its breathtaking surroundings. Your journey begins with a scenic drive along the picturesque coast of Eyjafjörður, one of Iceland's longest and most impressive fjords.
Our first destination is the renowned Goðafoss waterfall, celebrated for its striking beauty. We then proceed to Lake Mývatn, a unique geological site formed by a significant lava eruption approximately 2,300 years ago. The area features remarkable volcanic formations, including dramatic lava pillars and rootless vents.
The tour continues to Skútustaðagígar, a collection of fascinating pseudo craters, followed by the extraordinary lava landscapes of Dimmuborgir – a highlight for any visitor to the region. Guests will also have the opportunity to explore Grjótagjá Rift, a natural hot spring nestled within a volcanic fissure. The adventure continues with visits to Selfoss and Dettifoss waterfalls, the latter recognized as one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe.
The tour concludes in Eyjafjörður, offering panoramic views over the fjord towards Akureyri – an ideal setting for photography enthusiasts. This well-organized and affordable tour offers an exceptional experience for travelers seeking to explore the diverse landscapes of North Iceland.
Depending on the season, guests can also enjoy a relaxing visit to local hot springs: Forest Lagoon near Akureyri from May to September, and Earth Lagoon in the Lake Mývatn area from October to April. This is the perfect way to complete an unforgettable day in one of Iceland's most captivating regions.
This tour includes comfortable transportation in a minibus, a complimentary pickup service, and an English-speaking guide to enhance your experience. Additionally, entry to the beautiful Earth Lagoon or Forest Lagoon is also included.
From October to April, we visit Earth Lagoon at Lake Mývatn. During the summer months (May–September), we stop at Forest Lagoon, located just outside Akureyri.
Remember to bring your towel and swimsuit. If you forget, don’t worry—you also have the option to rent them on-site.
La cascada Goðafoss es una de las cascadas más bellas de Islandia. Apodada la Cascada de los Dioses por su historia. En el año 1000, «orgeir Ljósvetningagoði hizo del cristianismo la religión oficial de Islandia y procedió a arrojar sus estatuas de dioses a la cascada.
El agua cae desde una altura de 12 metros sobre un ancho de 30 metros.
Los pseudocráteres son formaciones geológicas raras tanto a nivel nacional como mundial. Los pseudocráteres son raras formaciones de lava formadas por explosiones de vapor donde fluye lava de flujo fino sobre lagos y pantanos. Dimmuborgir se formó en una erupción que ocurrió

A medida que la lava fluía por la zona, pasaba sobre un lago, provocando que hiriera. Esto aceleró el enfriamiento de la lava y provocó que pilares de vapor destrozaran partes de ella. Después de solidificarse, el área de Dimmuborgir quedó definida por grandes pilas de rocas y muchas cuevas y cavernas, causadas por burbujas de vapor intenso.
Como tal, muchos han comparado Dimmuborgir con un castillo medieval, con sus numerosas cámaras ocultas y sus torres en ascenso.
Grjótagjá es una pequeña cueva de lava cerca del lago Mývatn en Islandia. Tiene una fuente termal en su interior. A principios del siglo XVIII vivía allí el forajido Jón Markússon y utilizaba la cueva para bañarse. Hasta los años 70 Grjotagjá era un popular lugar de baño.

Selfoss es una cascada en el río Jökulsá á Fjöllum en el norte de Islandia. El río cae sobre varias cascadas a lo largo de unos 30 km antes de desembocar en Öxarfjörður, una bahía del Mar Ártico.
Dettifoss funciona con un río glaciar que fluye desde el glaciar más grande de Islandia, Vatnajökull.
Dettifoss tiene unos 100 metros (300 pies) de ancho y el agua cae unos 45 metros (150 pies) hacia el cañón.
