Bolungarvík is one of Iceland’s northernmost towns, a rugged fishing community at the end of the road beyond Ísafjörður, hemmed in by steep mountains and open sea. Life here has always been tied to the harsh, productive North Atlantic.

The Ósvör museum recreates a traditional turf-built fishing station, and the clifftop viewpoint atop Bolafjall — reached by a mountain road and a dramatic new platform — offers views all the way to the Arctic. Seabird cliffs and coastal walks surround the town.
