Summer for hiking, the nature reserve and the Eistnaflug festival.

One of Iceland's easternmost towns, tucked below steep mountains in Norðfjörður.

Neskaupstaður is the easternmost town in Iceland, dramatically hemmed between towering mountains and the sea at the end of Norðfjörður. Its remoteness and steep setting give it a wild, end-of-the-road feel.

A protected nature reserve on the fjord’s outer edge offers excellent hiking, and the town’s museum house gathers its maritime and natural history. Each summer it hosts Eistnaflug, one of Iceland’s best-loved music festivals.
