Suðurnesjabær is a coastal municipality on the western tip of the Reykjanes peninsula, formed from the villages of Sandgerði and Garður. It’s a place of big skies, low shores and rich birdlife, shaped by centuries of fishing.

The twin lighthouses at Garðskagi, with their little folk museum, are the signature sight, and the flat coastline is superb for birdwatching and sunsets. It’s a short hop from the airport, the Blue Lagoon and the wider Geopark.
