A charming northern harbour town, Iceland's whale-watching capital with a wooden church and GeoSea baths.

Húsavík is a picture-postcard harbour town on Skjálfandi bay in the north, widely regarded as the whale-watching capital of Iceland — and, more recently, familiar from the Eurovision comedy film set here.

Boats head out daily in the warmer months to see humpbacks and other whales, and the excellent Whale Museum tells the fuller story. The GeoSea geothermal sea baths overlook the bay, and the town’s photogenic wooden church is a local icon. It’s the gateway to Ásbyrgi, Dettifoss and Lake Mývatn.
