Iceland's southernmost village, famous for Reynisfjara black-sand beach and sea stacks.

Vík í Mýrdal is Iceland’s southernmost village, a cluster of houses beneath a hillside church on one of the most dramatic stretches of the south coast. It sits between glaciers, black-sand deserts and the pounding North Atlantic.

Just west lies Reynisfjara, the famous black beach with its basalt columns and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks, while the Dyrhólaey promontory offers puffins and a giant sea arch. Powerful sneaker waves mean the beaches must be treated with great care.
