Næs is a family-run restaurant on Heimaey that has become the standard-bearer for the Westman Islands’ celebrated cooking, carrying forward more than a decade of knowledge from its sibling Slippurinn (which served its final season in 2025). Chef Gísli and his team work directly with the island’s fishermen and forage wild herbs around Heimaey.
The format is a menu of smaller plates designed for sharing, plus a few larger dishes, matched with thoughtful cocktails and natural wines. Everything is made from scratch, and the menu shifts with the seasons and with whatever the boats land that day.
It operates seasonally, roughly June through September, so it is strictly a summer destination — and a strong reason in itself to take the ferry across.
