Forest Lagoon opened in 2022 on the forested hillside of Vaðlaskógur, just 10 km east of Akureyri — Iceland’s second city. Framed by birch trees and overlooking Eyjafjörður, the country’s longest fjord, the lagoon has two infinity pools (530 m² and 330 m²) kept at 37–40°C, fed by natural geothermal water piped from underground.
The design integrates naturally into the woodland setting, with wooden walkways threading through the trees to the water’s edge. Three swim-up bars serve drinks directly in the larger pool, and the restaurant above the changing facilities draws on locally sourced North Icelandic ingredients.
Entry costs approximately 6,500 ISK for adults (towel rental extra). Pre-booking is highly recommended, especially in summer and around the midnight sun season. The lagoon is accessible by car from the Akureyri ring road and by tour bus from the town centre.
