Friðheimar is one of South Iceland’s most distinctive dining experiences: a working tomato greenhouse near Reykholt on the Golden Circle, where guests eat surrounded by living vines. The greenhouse is heated by geothermal water and lit with geothermal-powered electricity, and the farm grows a remarkable share of Iceland’s tomatoes.
The menu is a playful celebration of that crop. The famous all-you-can-eat tomato soup with fresh-baked bread is the headliner, joined by tomato ravioli, fire-baked tortillas, burrata with local tomatoes and even tomato-based desserts and drinks.
It is open year-round for lunchtime dining and is extremely popular, so reservations are strongly recommended; the kitchen typically serves through the early afternoon.
