Enjoy a private full day journey along Iceland’s South Coast to Diamond Beach. Visit waterfalls, black sand beaches, glaciers, and the famous Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon in comfort and at your own pace.

Iceland's South Coast is the country's most scenic and varied driving corridor, and this private full-day tour covers its greatest highlights in one seamless journey. Travelling east from your Reykjavík accommodation, the route follows the coastal highway with the Atlantic stretching to the south and wide-open Icelandic landscapes unfolding in every direction.

Skógafoss greets you early in the day – a 60-metre cascade approached right to its base along an open path, powerful enough to fill the surrounding air with spray. Nearby, Sólheimajökull offers a striking glacier viewpoint where the long ice tongue stretches toward the flat outwash plain below. At Dyrhólaey, a sea arch and clifftop headland deliver panoramic views along the black coastline in both directions. The tour continues to Reynisfjara, Iceland's most celebrated black sand beach, where dramatic dark columnar rock formations rise from the shore and the sea stacks of Reynisdrangar stand offshore in the rolling Atlantic surf.

A brief stop in the village of Vík gives way to the long drive east toward the centrepiece of the day: Gletscherlagune Jökulsárlón. Here, icebergs calved from the glacier drift slowly across a deep glacial lake, their surfaces ranging from brilliant white to deep ice blue depending on the light. Just across the road, Diamantstrand is scattered with ice fragments washed ashore onto black sand – one of the most photogenic natural scenes in Iceland.

The return journey west brings two more waterfall stops. Seljalandsfoss is one of Iceland's most visited natural landmarks, notable for the path that loops behind its falling curtain of water – weather and season permitting. A short walk away, Gljúfrabúi is a hidden gem tucked inside a narrow canyon, reached by stepping through a shallow stream, and easily overlooked by those who don't know to seek it out.

Your vehicle is private throughout – exclusively for your group, with no shared passengers. Your English-speaking guide manages the pace and timing to suit your group across the full day.

Please note: This is one of Iceland's longest day touring routes. The full day typically runs 13-15 hours – plan accordingly and dress for all conditions.

  • Pick up in Reykjavik

Your adventure begins in Reykjavik as you leave the city behind and travel along the famous south coast of Iceland. The scenery quickly changes from colorful houses and urban streets to open farmland, lava fields, and distant glaciers.

  • Skogafoss-Wasserfall

The first major highlight of the journey is Skogafoss Waterfall. This powerful waterfall drops from high cliffs that were once the coastline of Iceland thousands of years ago. As the water crashes down, mist rises into the air and often creates beautiful rainbows on sunny days. Visitors can walk close to the base of the waterfall or climb the stairs beside it for an incredible view from above.

  • Dyrholaey viewpoint

Next you visit the dramatic Dyrholaey viewpoint. From this cliff top location you can see sweeping views of the south coast, black sand beaches, and powerful Atlantic waves crashing against the shoreline. The famous rock arch rising from the ocean makes this location one of the most photographed spots in the region.

  • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

Before reaching Vik, a short stop is made at the famous Reynisfjara. From the parking area you can admire the dramatic black volcanic sand, powerful Atlantic waves, and the impressive basalt columns rising along the cliffs. In the distance, the legendary Reynisdrangar sea stacks rise from the ocean, creating one of the most iconic coastal views in Iceland.

  • Quick Stop in Vik (optional)

Enjoy a short stop in the charming village of Vik.
Use this time for restrooms, snacks, or photos of the coastal scenery.
Your guide can suggest a quick coffee stop if needed.

  • Jokulsarlon-Gletscherlagune

From Vik the drive continues across vast volcanic plains and glacial rivers toward one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Iceland. Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon is filled with floating icebergs that break away from a nearby glacier. These ice formations slowly drift across the lagoon before reaching the ocean, creating an unforgettable landscape of ice and water.

  • Diamantstrand

Just across the road from the lagoon lies Diamond Beach. Here pieces of clear glacial ice wash onto the black sand beach. The sunlight reflects through the ice making it sparkle like diamonds scattered along the shore.

  • Seljalandsfoss-Wasserfall

On the return journey you stop at Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, one of the most unique waterfalls in Iceland. A path allows visitors to walk behind the waterfall and experience the powerful cascade from a completely different perspective.

  • Gljufrabui Wasserfall

Only a short walk away is the hidden waterfall of Gljufrabui. This beautiful waterfall is tucked inside a narrow canyon and is often missed by many visitors. Passing through the rocky opening reveals a magical scene where water falls into a moss covered gorge.
