A private full-day tour from Reykjavík to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach with your own driver-guide, plus two South Coast stops of your choice, at your pace, with door-to-door pickup.

Jökulsárlón is the furthest of Iceland's great sights from Reykjavík, and for most people the most memorable. Icebergs calve from the glacier and drift slowly across a lagoon that has grown fivefold in under a century. Some reach the sea, and the waves push them back onto the black sand of Diamond Beach a short walk away, where they lie polished and catching the light.

Getting there and back is a long day on the road, which is why doing it privately makes a difference. Your group gets a dedicated driver-guide and a vehicle that belongs entirely to you. There is no group to wait for, no headcount at every stop and no fixed departure called out from the front of a coach. The pace is yours.

The lagoon and Diamond Beach are fixed. Alongside them you choose two more stops along the South Coast: Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Dyrhólaey, Reynisfjara black sand beach, Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon or the Sólheimajökull glacier viewpoint. You pick them when you book, and we build the day around them.

We stop in the village of Vík for lunch and a proper break, roughly halfway. Your driver-guide drives this road year round and knows what each season allows. If conditions rule out one of your chosen stops on the day, we suggest the nearest alternative.

Pick-up in the Capital Area
Your driver-guide picks you up at your accommodation anywhere in the Capital Area, and after a short introduction you head east along the South Coast.
Drive along the South Coast
Past farmland, lava fields and the outlet glaciers of Eyjafjallajökull.
Your first chosen stop
The first of the two stops you pick when you book: Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Dyrhólaey, Reynisfjara, Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon or the Sólheimajökull glacier viewpoint.

A proper break in Iceland's southernmost village, roughly halfway, with cafés and restaurants where you can buy lunch.

From Vik the drive continues across vast volcanic plains and glacial rivers toward one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Iceland. Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon is filled with floating icebergs that break away from a nearby glacier. These ice formations slowly drift across the lagoon before reaching the ocean, creating an unforgettable landscape of ice and water.

Just across the road from the lagoon lies Diamond Beach. Here pieces of clear glacial ice wash onto the black sand beach. The sunlight reflects through the ice making it sparkle like diamonds scattered along the shore.

You will receive your booking confirmation right after you book.
Please count everyone in your group, including children and infants, as everyone needs their own seat.
We pick up and drop off at any accommodation in the Capital Area. Staying somewhere else? Send us a message before you book and we will gladly help.
This tour is not available for cruise ship passengers, as the day is too long for a port call.
This is one of the longest day tours in Iceland, usually 13-15 hours door to door, with a lot of time in the vehicle.
In winter daylight is short, so part of the drive is in the dark.

Walking and accessibility

This tour involves easy walks on uneven natural paths that can be wet, muddy or icy, so it is not suitable for guests with serious mobility limitations. The tour is not wheelchair accessible.
If you choose the Sólheimajökull glacier viewpoint, we walk to the edge of the glacier and do not go onto the ice, so no glacier guide or special equipment is needed.

Beach safety

At Reynisfjara and Diamond Beach, sneaker waves can run far up the beach without warning. Please stay well back from the water and follow your guide's advice.
