Arnarstapi
The small fishing village
Finding a peaceful place in the country is very easy, and Arnarstapi is one of these places. Back in the day, Arnarstapi was a trading post and a fishing village with a large population. Now, with a smaller population, the beauty is still the same. Basalt columns, large cliffs, lava formations and birds everywhere, make Arnarstapi a must-stop when visiting Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
Arnarstapi is more than a town. One of the most famous photo-shooting places is the basalt stone arch called Gatklettur. And you can’t miss the sculpture of Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson, a big human-troll that represents a mythical character of a farmer, now a very popular and famous spot in the fishing town.
