埃斯基菲尔祖尔

Eskifjörður is a scenic fishing town strung along a narrow eastern fjord beneath the pyramid-shaped Hólmatindur mountain. It has one of the region’s most attractive waterfronts.

The Maritime Museum of East Iceland occupies an old merchant’s house, and a rewarding hike leads up to the historic Helgustaðir mine, once a world-famous source of clear Iceland spar crystal. The neighbouring fjord towns are all close by.
