SUPER JEEP TOUR TO FJALLABAK

Explore the untouched splendor of Fjallabak Nature Reserve, a hidden gem in Iceland’s highlands. This tour is ideal for those seeking to immerse themselves in a remote volcanic wilderness.

Fjallabak enchants visitors with its vibrant colors, dramatic landscapes, unique but delicate ecosystem, and serene desert wilderness. Each trip is crafted with care, tailored to the day’s weather and road conditions, and enriched with personal stories, local knowledge, and ancient sagas—offering a truly authentic experience.

Picture lush green mountains set against black deserts, endless glacier views on the horizon, mighty canyons, and sprawling lava fields. Fjallabak is unlike any other place—it’s Icelandic wilderness at its purest, where nature reigns supreme and human influence feels almost nonexistent.

Highlights on Fjallabak Super Jeep Day Tour may include:

  • Mt. Mælifell: A striking conical volcano blanketed in bright green moss, set amidst the black ash desert of Mælifellssandur.
  • Rauðubotnar: A stunning crater featuring an emerald green lake surrounded by vivid red rocks.
  • Álftavatn: A breathtaking lake renowned for its abundant birdlife.
  • Hvanngil Valley, Mt. Hattfell, and Mt. Laufafell: Awe-inspiring highland vistas.
  • Markafljótsgljúfur: A glacial river canyon with waterfalls and striking stratified lava walls.
  • Torfahlaup: A scenic spot marking the beginning of the Markafljótsgljúfur canyon.
  • Mt. Hekla: One of Iceland’s most active volcanoes, with over 20 eruptions since settlement began in 874.
  • Mt. Einhyrningur: A unique mountain resembling a sleeping unicorn, nestled between the Tindfjöll Glacier and the Markarfljót river.
  • Landmannalaugar: A geothermal haven with nearby attractions like Hnausapollur crater lake, Rauðaskál crater, Dyngjuleið, and Dómadalur. (For a guaranteed visit to Landmannalaugar, check out our specific Landmannalaugar Highlands Day Tour.)
