Our journey begins at 09:00 as we travel into the remote Icelandic Highlands along rugged mountain roads, crossing unbridged rivers and stopping at scenic viewpoints for photographs. Along the way, your experienced local driver-guide will share fascinating insights into the region's volcanic history, geology, and natural wonders.

Landmannalaugar – Colorful Mountains, Hiking & Hot Springs

Our first main destination is Landmannalaugar, one of Iceland's most spectacular natural areas, famous for its colorful rhyolite mountains, vast lava fields, and geothermal activity.

Here, we allow time to explore the remarkable surroundings at your own pace, with two excellent hiking options:

– Laugahraun Lava Field Circle (Easy): An approximately 4.8 km circular hike taking 1–2 hours. This scenic trail winds through fascinating volcanic lava formations, past geothermal features, and through the beautiful Grænagil canyon, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding colorful mountains.
– Brennisteinsalda (Moderate): For those seeking a more adventurous hike, this approximately 7 km route takes around 3–3.5 hours and leads up one of Iceland's most colorful volcanic mountains. The hike rewards visitors with panoramic views across the extraordinary landscapes of Landmannalaugar.

After exploring the area, enjoy the opportunity to relax in Landmannalaugar's natural geothermal hot spring and have your packed lunch surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. The time spent here can be adjusted according to your group's hiking preferences and interests.

Eldgjá Canyon & Ófærufoss Waterfall

Leaving Landmannalaugar, we continue our journey through the breathtaking Highlands toward Eldgjá, an immense volcanic fissure formed during one of Iceland's most remarkable volcanic eruptions.

Here, we walk through the dramatic canyon to Ófærufoss, a beautiful waterfall cascading between towering volcanic cliffs.

Depending on the time spent exploring Landmannalaugar, and if weather and trail conditions allow, we may also take the scenic route back along the rim of Eldgjá, offering spectacular elevated views across the canyon and surrounding volcanic landscapes.
