A South Coast town with the Lava Centre and gateway to Þórsmörk and Eyjafjallajökull.

Hvolsvöllur is a South Coast town on the Ring Road, set amid the farmland immortalised in Njáls saga, Iceland’s greatest medieval tale. Today it’s best known as a jumping-off point for the region’s waterfalls, glaciers and Highlands.

The interactive LAVA Centre explains the volcanoes that shape the south, and the town is the gateway to the Þórsmörk valley. Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls and the Eyjafjallajökull glacier are all close by.
