Seltjarnarnes occupies the tip of the peninsula that Reykjavík sits on, almost entirely surrounded by the sea. Small and residential, it feels a world away from the city despite being minutes from the centre.
The Grótta lighthouse and its nature reserve are the highlight — a favourite for birdwatching, midnight-sun strolls and, in winter, some of the closest northern-lights viewing to the capital. A geothermal seawater pool and the little Kvika foot-bath round out a visit.
