This flight tracks the evolution of the most significant eruption sites in the southwest, specifically the Fagradalsfjalli og Sundhnúkur areas. We navigate the shifting volcanic systems to show you how cooling lava and deep fissures have fundamentally altered the terrain near the Bláa lónið og Grindavík. While volcanic activity is unpredictable, seeing these fresh geological formations from a pilot’s perspective is an extraordinary experience in any season.
