The village by Lake Mývatn, a volcanic wonderland of pseudocraters, lava and geothermal nature baths.

The village of Reykjahlíð sits on the shore of Lake Mývatn, at the centre of one of Iceland’s most extraordinary volcanic landscapes. Craters, lava formations, steaming vents and a shallow, bird-rich lake are all packed into a small area.

Soak in the Mývatn Nature Baths, wander the lava pillars of Dimmuborgir, climb the Hverfjall crater and peer into the Grjótagjá cave. The Námafjall geothermal field, Krafla and the thundering Dettifoss are all a short drive away, making Mývatn a highlight of the north.
