About the Lava Tunnel & Northern Lights Experience:
On this tour you’ll visit the fourth-longest lava tube in Iceland and witness the natural phenomenon that is the Northern Lights.
Firstly, your expert guide will collect you from your selected pick up location in a minibus. You’ll then be transported to Rauðarhölshellir lava Tunnel, 45 minutes outside of Reykjavík, where you’ll admire the fascinating lava formations and colors on this hour-long tour. We’ll go as far as 900 meters into the cave.
Next, we’ll explore some of Iceland’s beautiful landscapes in the search of Northern Lights. Our guides take photos every time the Northern Lights are spotted so you’ll get your photograph taken with the Aurora Borealis. We’ll enjoy hot chocolate while admiring the sky.
For the most enjoyable experience, be sure to wear ankle supporting boots, warm layers, coat, adequate hat and gloves.
Attention: As the success of the Northern Lights tour is heavily dependent on weather conditions, it may be possible that the Aurora Borealis is not visible on your trip. If the northern lights are not seen, we offer clients the chance to join a minibus Northern Lights departure free of charge upon availability. Note that you need to contact us to re-book.
