This tour takes you from Djúpivogur along the South East Coast to one of Iceland’s most iconic natural sights. The journey includes scenic coastal driving, mountain views, glacier landscapes and selected photo stops depending on weather, timing and road conditions.

The main highlight is Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where floating icebergs drift through the lagoon below Vatnajökull glacier. If time and conditions allow, we may also make a short stop at the nearby Diamond Beach.

Because of the distance from Djúpivogur, this is a long private shore excursion and is only suitable for cruise passengers with enough time in port. Pickup and return are planned carefully around your ship schedule, and the route may be adjusted to make sure you return to Djúpivogur in good time.

Pickup in Djúpivogur
Your private guide will meet you at Djúpivogur harbour or your accommodation. After a short introduction, we begin the scenic drive south.

We travel along the coastline from Djúpivogur toward the glacier region, passing quiet fjords, mountains and wide coastal landscapes.

On the way to Jökulsárlón, your guide will check with the group if a short comfort stop is needed before continuing toward the glacier lagoon.

The main highlight of the tour. Enjoy time at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where icebergs from Vatnajökull glacier float through the lagoon toward the sea.
Diamond Beach, if time allows
If timing and conditions allow, we may make a short stop at Diamond Beach, where pieces of ice can sometimes be seen on the black sand.
Return to Djúpivogur
We return to Djúpivogur with timing planned carefully around your ship departure.
Drop-off in Djúpivogur
The tour ends back at the original pickup location in Djúpivogur.
