Four free community geothermal pools on a Westfjords mountainside above Tálknafjörður village, where hot water meets ocean views in one of Iceland's most authentic bathing spots.

Pollurinn (‘the pool’) is a cluster of four concrete geothermal pools painted in shades of blue and set on a hillside just 4 km from the village of Tálknafjörður in the Westfjords. The pools are fed by the same geothermal source that heats the village homes, with temperatures ranging from 36°C to 46°C across the four tubs — a hose allows guests to cool the hottest pools down.

The location is modest and completely free: no ticket booth, no café, no frills — just hot water, fjord views, and a small changing cabin across the road. It is exactly the kind of local spot that Icelanders have long enjoyed, and its inclusion in Westfjords travel itineraries has grown steadily without losing its community character.

Pollurinn is open year-round and freely accessible at any hour. It is reached by a short drive from Tálknafjörður on a paved side road, with parking directly at the pools. There are no toilets on site; the nearest facilities are in the village.
