Three seaside geothermal tubs set right on the shoreline of Drangsnes village in the Westfjords, free to all and open around the clock.

The Drangsnes Hot Pots are three small concrete geothermal tubs arranged along the seafront of Drangsnes, a tiny fishing village on the Strandir coast of the Westfjords. The tubs offer different temperature levels — typically 38–42°C — and sit so close to the sea that the sound of gentle waves and the view across the fjord are constant companions. At high tide the ocean almost laps the edge of the pools.

Admission is free, there is no booking system, and the pots are open year-round at all hours. Changing rooms and showers are available in a building directly across the road. The village itself is tiny and charming, with a small ferry service and some of the most unspoiled scenery in the Westfjords region.

Drangsnes lies at the end of Route 643 on the Strandir peninsula. The drive north from Hólmavík along the Strandir coast is one of Iceland’s least-travelled and most atmospheric routes.
