This three-day winter tour takes you through some of Iceland’s most iconic landscapes, combining famous natural attractions with excellent chances to see the Nordlichter. Travel the Goldener Kreis to visit Nationalpark 'Dingvellir', die Geothermiegebiet Geysir und Gullfoss-wasserfall, then continue along the Südküste zu Reynisfjara Black Beach, Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss and the spectacular Gletscherlagune Jökulsárlón.
You will also visit Friðheimar Geothermal Farm, where tomatoes are grown year-round using sustainable energy. Two nights’ accommodation in the countryside are included, giving you a good spot for evening aurora viewing. Blaue Lagune admission is available as an optional extra, along with an optional blue ice cave experience on Vatnajökull Glacier.

Start your adventure with the Goldener Kreis tour, where you'll experience some of Iceland's most iconic attractions. Begin your journey at Nationalpark 'Dingvellir', a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its historical and geological significance. After a full day of sightseeing, you’ll continue south to the Vík area, where you’ll stay in a countryside hotel. Far from city lights, this peaceful setting offers the perfect opportunity for Nordlichter viewing. If skies are clear, simply step outside after dark and look up to witness the auroras dancing across the horizon — an unforgettable highlight of your Icelandic adventure.
We head east, along the southern shore, to the unique Gletscherlagune Jökulsárlón und die Diamantstrand. The Lagoon developed around 60 years ago with a continuous process of calving and falling icebergs from the glacier tongue BreiMPamerkurjökull. These icebergs are seen in two shades: milky white and bright blue, an interplay of light and ice crystals. The Lagoon is filled with fishes that drift in from the sea along with the tides. Seals gather in large numbers at the mouth of the Lagoon to catch the fish during winter, which is a sight to be seen.
Located nearby, visit the Diamantstrand, renowned for its stunning black sand covered with sparkling icebergs that have washed ashore. These icebergs, originating from the glacier lagoon, create a breathtaking contrast against the dark volcanic sand, making it a popular spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts. The ever-changing landscape of ice fragments glistening in the sunlight provides a unique and mesmerizing experience.
Next, you have the option to join a blue ice cave tour on Vatnajökull-gletscher for an additional cost. Guests who choose this optional experience will have the chance to explore one of Iceland’s extraordinary natural wonders up close. Those not taking part in the ice cave tour will visit Gletscherlagune von Fjallsárlón instead, a beautiful and less crowded lagoon known for its floating icebergs, peaceful atmosphere and impressive views of the glacier. Both options offer a memorable way to experience the stunning beauty of southeast Iceland.
On the return journey, continue to travel through the stunning Nationalpark Vatnajökull. This vast protected area is home to Europe’s largest glacier, dramatic mountain peaks, and powerful waterfalls cascading into deep valleys. The landscape is shaped by both ice and fire, with signs of ancient volcanic activity visible amid the lush green vegetation and glacial rivers. It’s a place where Iceland’s raw natural forces come together to create truly breathtaking scenery.
On this day, we will enjoy a ride along the south coast of Iceland. This coastal road offers views of glacier tongues, waterfalls, rugged hills, black sand beaches, and its famous volcanoes. We visit the black sand beach at Reynisfjara to view the geological formation and the smashing waves. Be careful not to step too close as the waves can be dangerous.
Next, stop and admire the majestic Skógafoss-Wasserfall before driving to Seljalandsfoss-Wasserfall, with a height of 60 m. Here you can walk behind the waterfall but dress well, as the water mist behind the waterfall can make you wet.
The final highlight before getting back to Reykjavik is the spectacular Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is on the National Geographic list of 25 wonders of the world, claiming it is a geothermal gift of nature. Enjoy soaking in the mineral-rich water with its fine silica mud experience (this is an optional extra).
From the Blue Lagoon, we head to Reykjavik and drop you off at your hotel.
