Skagaströnd is a small fishing village on the north-west coast, at the foot of the Spákonufell mountain named after a legendary medieval prophetess. It has a big personality for its size — most famously as the unlikely home of Icelandic country music.
The Spákonuhof museum celebrates the local fortune-teller legend, while the town’s country-music heritage traces back to musician Hallbjörn Hjartarson. A hike up Spákonufell and the harbour walks round out a quiet, quirky stop on the Skagi peninsula.
