Þórshöfn

Þórshöfn is a remote fishing village in Iceland’s far north-east, the gateway to the wild Langanes peninsula that juts out into the Arctic seas. Few travellers make it this far, which is precisely its appeal.

Langanes is a paradise for birdwatchers, with vast seabird cliffs and one of Iceland’s largest gannet colonies. The old Sauðanes parsonage museum and the empty, wind-scoured coast reward those who venture out here.
