Höfði House
The historic landmark built in 1909.
Located in Reykjavík and built-in 1909, Höfði is a famous Icelandic house for being the place wherein 1986 presidents Ronald Reagan of the United States and Mikhail Gorbachev of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics met. The reason for them to meet was to agree to end the Cold War. That’s why we still see the flags of both countries to commemorate this encounter.
Höfði was the residence of the Icelandic poet Einar Benediktsson for many years. Afterward, in the 40s it was home to the British Embassy, and in 1958 the city of Reykjavík acquired it until now for the city use.
