This is a 7 km round-trip hike lasting roughly 3 hours. The trail winds through fresh lava fields and rugged terrain before rewarding you with spectacular views of the crater and the valley shaped by the 2021 eruption. Your guide will share the fascinating story of the eruption and the geology of this volcanic hotspot along the way.
Stand at the edge of the 2021 Fagradalsfjall crater, walk across fresh lava that is still steaming in places, and soak in sweeping views across the Reykjanes Peninsula. It is a moderate 7 km hike, about 3 hours in total, perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone curious about Iceland's living geology.
