The Reykjanes Peninsula is where Iceland's volcanic story is still being written, yet most travellers only see it through the window between Keflavík Airport and Reykjavík. This private tour takes the time to explore it properly, and it fits neatly into your arrival or departure day.

Your group gets a dedicated driver-guide and a vehicle that belongs entirely to you for the day. No fixed pace, no waiting for other passengers, no compromises.

The day starts at Garðskagaviti lighthouse on the northern tip of the peninsula and the lonely stone church at Hvalsnes, built in 1887. At the Bridge Between Continents you walk across the rift between the North American and Eurasian plates.

On the wild south-west coast you reach Reykjanesviti lighthouse and the wave-battered cliffs of Valahnúkamöl, where the keyboard from the Eurovision film's Volcano Man scene still stands. Out at sea rises Eldey, home to one of the world's largest gannet colonies. At Gunnuhver, steam vents and boiling mud pools hiss in a landscape of dark lava, and at Brimketill the Atlantic surges into a natural pool carved from the lava.

Walking and accessibility

This tour involves easy walks on uneven coastal paths and lava ground that can be wet or icy, so it is not suitable for guests with serious mobility limitations. The tour is not wheelchair accessible.
