Þórsmörk (Thorsmork) Nature Reserve, or the “Valley of Thor” named after the Norse thunder god, is one of Iceland’s most captivating landscapes. Known for its expansive views, secluded waterfalls, dramatic canyons, birch forests, and glacier vistas. Þórsmörk is a beloved retreat for locals—a place to hike, connect with nature, and feel the powerful energy of land surrounded by three glaciers. This tour is perfect for travelers eager to step off the main paths and experience Þórsmörk from a local’s perspective.
Designed with a focus on “slow travel,” this tour takes time to appreciate each location beyond the camera lens. With experienced guides leading the way, visitors will cross unbridged glacier rivers in a super jeep and explore hidden spots throughout Þórsmörk, ensuring a safe and memorable adventure. Accessible year-round, the route adapts to the season’s unique character and is customized to match daily weather and road conditions, making every trip distinct. Guides will share their favorite locations and stories, providing insight into Iceland’s rich culture, myths, and untouched nature.

Þórsmörk is remote and only accessible by rough mountain roads and unbridged glacial rivers. Our Super Jeeps make the journey safer and more comfortable, but guests should be able to step in and out of the vehicle with assistance if needed.
Travelers who want to experience Þórsmörk without driving difficult highland roads themselves. Ideal for nature lovers, photographers, families, and anyone looking for a slower, guided adventure into one of Iceland’s most beautiful valleys.
Dress for a full day outdoors. Wear warm, waterproof layers and sturdy shoes. Bring a hat, gloves, water bottle, snacks, and a camera. Weather can change quickly in Þórsmörk.
We keep our groups small, travel with local guides, and follow responsible driving practices in this fragile highland environment. Our goal is to help you experience Þórsmörk with care, respect, and a deeper connection to the landscape.
