Take off from Reykjavík on this ~3 hours 30 minutes helicopter tour in Iceland and explore Iceland’s highlands and south coast in a single extended journey. This experience combines multiple landings in remote locations, including a waterfall, a highland valley, and a glacier, offering a broad perspective on Iceland’s interior landscapes.
After departure, your pilot will guide the route based on weather, visibility, and current conditions, flying inland from Reykjavík across some of Iceland’s most recognized inland landscapes. The route may include aerial views of Þingvellir National Park and parts of the Golden Circle before continuing deeper into the interior.
The first landing takes place near Háifoss, one of Iceland’s highest waterfalls, where you can step out and experience the scale of the canyon and the surrounding highland landscape. The tour then continues toward the highlands and Landmannalaugar, known for its colorful rhyolite mountains, lava fields, and geothermal features. A second landing allows you to explore this remote area from the ground.
From the highlands, the journey continues toward the south coast, passing through varied terrain shaped by volcanic activity and glacial forces. The final landing takes place on or near Eyjafjallajökull, offering a contrasting environment of ice and open mountain views. This glacier-volcano became widely known during its 2010 eruption and remains one of Iceland’s most recognizable natural landmarks.
Together, these landings reveal the diversity and scale of Iceland’s highland landscapes.
The return flight follows the south coast back toward Reykjavík, offering views of black sand plains, coastal landscapes, and surrounding terrain.
This tour offers one of the most extensive helicopter experiences from Reykjavík, combining multiple landings across Iceland’s highlands and south coast. It’s ideal for those who want to explore the interior in depth and experience a wide range of landscapes in a single journey.
We recommend wearing sturdy shoes and dressing in warm, layered clothing suitable for changing weather conditions.
