This private tour is only available between Mid-May to Mid-October as it ventures into highland roads, inaccessible during winter. Duration: 9 – 10 hours depending on conditions
Escape the city and journey deep into one of Iceland’s most enchanting regions, Þjórsárdalur, also known as Paradise Valley. This privately guided day tour takes you from Reykjavík into the Icelandic highlands, where nature, history, and cinematic landscapes await.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive through the south, passing the charming town of Selfoss before heading inland. Our first stop is Þjóðveldisbærinn, a reconstructed Viking-era farmstead that brings Iceland’s medieval past to life. History buffs and Game of Thrones fans alike will enjoy stepping into this atmospheric replica, which served as a filming location for the series.
Next, we visit Hjálparfoss, a unique double waterfall framed by lava formations, followed by Gjáin, a hidden oasis of waterfalls, beautiful rock formations and lush greenery. Few, if any, places in Iceland feel more like you're stepping in to a scene from a fairytale.
From there, we continue deeper into the highlands to witness two of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls: Háifoss, the country’s second-highest waterfall, and its elegant brother, Granni, cascading side-by-side into a dramatic canyon.
Finally, we visit Fossabrekkur, a lesser-known gem where crystal-clear streams tumble through mossy fields, a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path ending to an awe-inspiring day.
On our return to Reykjavík, time and interest allowing, we’ll stop at the historic Skálholt, once Iceland’s cultural and religious center.
This is a private tour in a luxury SUV with an amazing, friendly and knowledgeable english speaking guide. Hotel pickup and drop off included as well as light refreshments in the car. Please note that lunch is not included.
