Iceland's Golden Circle is one of the great road trips of the world: tectonic rifts, erupting geysers, thundering waterfalls, and a volcanic crater that looks like it belongs in a painting. You could do it on a shared bus with forty strangers. Or you could do it like this.
This is a fully private tour. Your group of up to 3 or 8 people gets a dedicated guide and a vehicle that belongs entirely to you for the day. No fixed pace, no waiting for other passengers, no compromises. If you want to stay longer at Gullfoss because the light is perfect, you stay. If you want to watch Strokkur erupt one more time, you watch. The day is yours.
Your private guide brings deep knowledge of Iceland's history, culture, and landscape to every stop. They are there to answer questions, provide context, and make sure your group gets the most out of every moment on the route.
The route takes you across some of the most dramatic terrain in Europe: ancient history, living geothermal fields, waterfalls that stop conversation, and a crater with colours that genuinely do not look real. Full details of each stop are in the itinerary.
Door-to-door pickup and drop-off from your Reykjavík accommodation is included. The itinerary order may be adjusted on the day due to weather or road conditions.
Your private guide will pick you up directly from your hotel or designated pickup point in Reykjavík in a comfortable private vehicle. After a short introduction, you’ll begin your journey into Iceland’s famous Golden Circle.
Your first stop is Þingvellir National Park, one of Iceland’s most important historical and geological sites, where you can walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, visit the site of the world’s oldest parliament (Althingi), enjoy stunning views of lava fields, cliffs, and lakes, and take time for short walks and photos.
Located inside Þingvellir National Park, Öxarárfoss is a beautiful waterfall framed by basalt cliffs, where you can walk up close to the cascade, take photos of the dramatic volcanic landscape, and enjoy a peaceful nature break.
Next, you’ll visit the famous Geysir geothermal area, home to bubbling hot springs and steaming vents, where you can watch the Strokkur geyser erupt every few minutes, explore colorful geothermal pools, and learn about Iceland’s volcanic activity.
Continue to the powerful Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls, where you can walk along viewing platforms offering different perspectives, feel the mist from the roaring glacier-fed cascade, and capture breathtaking photos of this natural wonder.
Your journey continues to the quieter Faxi Waterfall, located on the Tungufljót River, where you can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere away from large tour groups, walk close to the waterfall, and even spot salmon jumping during the summer months, adding a unique and relaxed touch to your Golden Circle experience.
The final stop is the striking Kerid volcanic crater, known for its red volcanic rock and blue lake, where you can walk around the crater rim, descend closer to the lake for photos, and learn about Iceland’s volcanic history.
After exploring Kerið, you’ll relax on the drive back to Reykjavík, where you’ll be dropped off at your original pickup location.
