Discover the beauty of Langisjór and Eldgjá on a private Super Jeep adventure. Choose between spectacular viewpoints and rugged Highland tracks or a rewarding mountain hike, with a visit to the magnificent Ófærufoss waterfall.

Discover some of the most spectacular and remote landscapes of the Icelandic Highlands on a private Super Jeep adventure to Langisjór and Eldgjá.

Travel through breathtaking volcanic scenery, surrounded by towering mountains, rugged lava fields, and untouched wilderness. This approximately 9-hour adventure offers two exciting itinerary options, allowing you to choose between a scenic Super Jeep expedition or a rewarding mountain hike.

Option 1 – Langisjór Viewpoints & Remote Highland Tracks

For those seeking breathtaking scenery, exceptional photo opportunities, and an adventurous Super Jeep experience.

• Langisjór Lake: Journey deep into the Highlands to one of Iceland's most beautiful mountain lakes. Enjoy a short walk of approximately 15 minutes to a viewpoint overlooking the lake, with time to admire the surroundings and capture photographs.

• Breiðbakur Viewpoint: Continue by Super Jeep to a spectacular viewpoint along the western side of Langisjór, offering sweeping views across the lake toward the magnificent Fögrufjöll mountain ridge. On clear days, the surrounding glaciers and distant Highlands create an unforgettable panorama.

• Blautulón Lake Crossing: Experience one of the most adventurous sections of the journey as we follow a remote track through the shallows of Blautulón. Navigating this route requires local knowledge and careful judgment, as deep water lies close to the crossing.

• Skælingar Highland Track: Continue along a rugged, historic mountain track winding through extraordinary volcanic landscapes. Its rough terrain and remote surroundings make this an exciting part of the Super Jeep adventure.

• Eldgjá Canyon & Ófærufoss: Explore the impressive Eldgjá volcanic fissure on foot, walking through the canyon to the beautiful, cascading Ófærufoss waterfall. On the return, follow a trail along the canyon rim for wonderful views over the dramatic landscape.

Option 2 – Sveinstindur Summit Hike & Eldgjá

Perfect for adventurous travelers who enjoy hiking and want to experience Langisjór from one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Icelandic Highlands.

• Langisjór Lake: Travel by Super Jeep through the dramatic Highlands to the southern end of Langisjór, surrounded by magnificent volcanic mountains and wilderness.

• Sveinstindur Summit Hike: Embark on a challenging and rewarding hike to the summit of Sveinstindur, rising 1,089 meters above sea level. The hike typically takes 2–3 hours and rewards you with an extraordinary panoramic view along the length of Langisjór, the surrounding mountain ranges, and the vast Highlands beyond.

• Eldgjá Canyon & Ófærufoss: Following the hike, return along the main Highland route toward Eldgjá. Walk through the impressive volcanic canyon to admire Ófærufoss, then return along the canyon rim for spectacular views.
