Stykkishólmur

Stykkishólmur is the largest and prettiest town on the Snæfellsnes peninsula, its harbour lined with restored timber houses in cheerful colours. It looks out over Breiðafjörður, a vast bay scattered with countless small islands.

Climb Súgandisey for sweeping views, visit the Norwegian House museum and Roni Horn’s Library of Water, and take a boat trip across Breiðafjörður or the ferry to the tiny island of Flatey. Snæfellsjökull and its national park are within easy reach.
