A small South Coast town on the Rangá river, handy for waterfalls, volcanoes and the Highlands.

Hella is a small service town on the banks of the salmon-rich Ytri-Rangá river in the south, surrounded by horse farms and open lowland with the Hekla volcano looming inland.

Beneath the town lie the mysterious man-made Caves of Hella, possibly Iceland’s oldest human-made structures. It’s a popular base for horse riding, salmon fishing and aurora watching, and a launch point for Highland routes to Landmannalaugar.
