Þórsmörk – A Hiking Paradise

Þórsmörk is a remote valley embraced by glaciers on three sides – with breathtaking scenery! No wonder that this area was chosen for filming sites for the Game of Thrones series. The drive to Þórsmörk is an adventure – a drive, on our mountain bus, over many un-bridged rivers and rough roads that are impassable on regular cars. Once in Þórmörk we stop for six hours that gives plenty of time to hike and take in this spectacular landscape. You will find many marked hiking trails and if you need a hiking map you can buy one on site. Refreshments are sold at Volcano huts café, but a lunch pack is highly recommended for your hike. Wear layered clothing and good shoes and bring your hat and gloves even though it is summer! This tour can also be taken from Hveragerði or Selfoss. Pick up from Hveragerði would be at Sunnumörk at 07:55 and from Selfoss in front of N1 gas station or at the Campsite at 8:15. Please specify. Please note this is a self – guided tour.
