Jökulsárlón

Jökulsárlón is a glacier lagoon, precisely as its name translates, located in southeast Iceland in Vatnajökull þjóðgarðurinn. You will be amazed by the multicolored icebergs. It has a combination of black, white, and blue. The colors on the icebergs depend on the season and the oxygen inside of them. With less oxygen and smaller size, they begin floating more quickly and end by a black sand beach known as the Diamond Beach. This famous lagoon is considered as an Icelandic natural wonder, and it is one of the most visited places by tourists in the country.

The lagoon has been growing more and more each year because the glaciers are melting. It covers an area of about 18km2, and you can find animal life such as seals in the glacier lagoon. For us, this is one of our favorite places in Iceland and a must-known attraction for everyone that visits the country.
