A family-friendly horse experience in the riding hall with guided 10-minute rides for children as young as 2, plus stable visits and horse interaction opportunities.

This tour is perfect for families with younger children who cannot join our trail rides due to age restrictions, as well as for guests who want a hands-on experience with the Icelandic horse without committing to a lengthy ride.

Small groups – Personal service!

Our child-friendly horses are always led by a guide, ensuring a safe experience for everyone, regardless of age. The ride in the riding hall lasts for 10 minutes, and the minimum age requirement is 2 years.

You are also welcome to visit our stable and spend time with the horses. Take a moment to interact with them and brush your horse before or after your ride in the riding hall.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time.

  • Dress according to the weather. A warm jacket or overcoat, good shoes, comfortable pants (riding pants are not necessary), a hat, gloves, and neckwear are recommended. Warm, long underwear, if possible (to protect against chafing).

  • Indoor Riding in Riding Hall at Vorsabær 2
    • Arrival at Vorsabær 2 and welcome by your guide.
    • Meet the horses, receive riding instructions, and attend a safety briefing.
    • Small-group 10-minute horseback riding session inside the indoor riding hall.
    • Return to the stable area at the end of the session.

Please note

  • Riding helmets are mandatory and provided free of charge.
  • Riders must be able to mount and dismount a horse with minimal assistance.
  • The maximum rider weight is 110 kg (240 lb).
  • Used boots, riding wear, saddlebags, etc., must be disinfected before arriving in Iceland, as infectious diseases can easily be introduced into the country and pose a serious threat to horses. Riding gear is typically washed, and shoes, helmets, and safety vests are cleaned with iodine or another disinfectant. Used riding gloves and all used leather items (e.g., chaps) are not permitted.
