Exploring the Hidden Mountains

We’ll depart from Vík, heading up into the mountains along Route One, where the landscape becomes more dramatic. In the comfort and safety of our specially-equipped super jeeps, you’ll traverse wild terrain, cross rivers, and immerse yourself in the epic scenery, much like the settings from “Game of Thrones” and “Star Wars.”

Our first stop will take you to the panoramic peak of Háfell. Here, you’ll be able to admire the sweeping views of black sand beaches, the mighty Katla Volcano, and the majestic Hafursey Mountain, which was featured in Star Wars: Rogue One.

Hiking in Þakgil Canyons

Our adventure continues as we explore the hiking area of Höfðabrekkuheiði, which became iconic as “The Land Beyond the Wall” in Jeu de trônes. You’ll have time to hike the cool rock formations and soak in the landscape, giving you the chance to picture yourself as part of the show’s adventure.

Then, we’ll take on a thrilling hike into the stunning Remundargil Canyon. The short trek to the bottom will reward you with a breathtaking view of its hidden waterfall, where you’ll have plenty of time to snap photos of the spectacular surroundings.

Stop at þakgil Campsite and new secret spots

After the hikes, we’ll make our way to Þakgil Campsite. Here, we’ll take a break, where you can use the facilities and refresh before embarking on a short but rewarding hike to a beautiful waterfall.

Once you’ve had your fill of adventure and exploration at Þakgil, we’ll take a different route back to Vík. You’ll experience more river crossings and detours through additional canyons while learning about the mysterious “force stones” that are scattered across the landscape.
