Glacier hike Skaftafell:
You will meet your guide and group at the Skaftafell Booking Center, the gray building with the turf roof, near the car park at Skaftafell Visitor Center in Vatnajökull National Park and the adventure is ready to start!
We will drive around 15 minutes towards Falljökull. Once there, you will gear up on crampons, have the security briefing and your guide will give you more information about this amazing phenomenon.
Next you know you will set foot on the glacier, and will be hiking on it, encountering on your way crevasses, moulins and falls. You will be amazed by the shapes, colors and textures around you.

Guided tour with an English-speaking, certified glacier guide
Specialized glacier safety gear (helmet, harness, glacier crampons, ice axe)
– Waterproof jacket and pants (We do have rental clothing available)
– Hiking boots (Available for rent, 1000 isk. We advise against runners or any type of shoe that comes up below the ankle bone as the straps on the crampons can get a bit painful during the walk)(Climbing boots are included on the ice climbing tour)
-Light sweater, wool or fleece
– Light synthetic or quick dry pants (Try and stay clear of jeans on the longer trips as they get wet & cold quick and dry slow)
– Thin Gloves
– Hat
– Small Backpack (Can be handy to carry camera, rain gear and all extras)
– Sunglasses and sun protection (It can get quite bright on the ice with the reflection)
– Food and drinks (Lunch is not provided on any of our trips. June – September there is plenty of fresh water on the glacier so bring a bottle)
– Camera (If you forget everything else don´t forget that)
Travelers should be prepared to walk approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) with an elevation gain of 200-250 meters (650–820 ft). While the tour is rated as easy and suitable for most fitness levels, there is a moderate amount of walking over uneven glacier terrain.
Our specialized glacier crampons are only available for shoe sizes 35 EU and larger. Those with a smaller shoe size are unfortunately unable to participate.
