  The most well known of the mountains embracing Reykjavík, is Mt. Esja, or often called Esjan, is located in Kjalarnes, past the town of Mosfellsbaer just east of Reykjavík. Mount Esja is a mountain range formed by volcanic activity eons ago and is a sight to behold when gazed down from above. The view from this 914 metre high mountain is absolutely wonderful! You will find yourself betwixt the vast sapphire and aquamarine ocean engulfing the city shore, you will gaze upon the small islands smattering the ocean whilst the crumbling mountains take your breath away. In the distance, you will be able to observe the small and colorful settlements dotting the vast Arctic. This tour is the best way to familiarize yourself with Iceland’s majestic landscape.
