Reykjanesbær

Reykjanesbær, centred on Keflavík and Njarðvík, is the largest town on the Reykjanes peninsula and the first place most visitors reach, as Iceland’s international airport sits on its doorstep. It grew around fishing and the former NATO base, and has a lively music heritage as the cradle of Icelandic pop.

The harbour, the Viking World museum with its full-size replica ship, and the Rokksafn rock-‘n’-roll museum give the town its character. It’s the natural first or last stop of a trip, with the Blue Lagoon and Reykjanes Geopark close by.
