Sendero Laugavegur

Who said hiking was only for professionals? The Sendero Laugavegur is one of the most popular in the country and was listed by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful trails in the world. The trail goes from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk, and it is around 55km. The perfect season to do the hike is in summer starting at the end of June until mid-September, but as always in Iceland, check the weather forecast to plan this hike ahead.

The landscape in this trail is full of variety, so you are going to love it. Several companies offer bus fares during the summertime to Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk. Most of them are known as Hiker’s bus pass, which is valid for the transfers from Reykjavík and back. But, if you are interested in staying over the night when arriving at Þórmskörk, we recommend the Volcano Huts.
