Zipline Adventure on Sólheimajökull

Embark on an unforgettable journey of discovery and excitement on Sólheimajökull-gletscher, where you will explore a newly discovered ice cave and experience the thrill of a zip line across the glacial landscape. Your adventure begins with a guided hike onto the glacier, where your crampons will grip the ice beneath your feet and each step will reveal the raw, untamed beauty of Iceland’s icy wilderness. As you walk, your expert guide will introduce you to the fascinating geology of the glacier and point out unique formations such as moulins and deep glacial crevasses.

After exploring the glacier, the adventure continues as you head toward the zip line. Strapped into your harness, you’ll soar through the sky, gliding over the glacier and taking in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. For those who prefer, ’No-fly’ tickets allow you to remain on the glacier and enjoy the full tour experience while watching your family or friends take the zip line.

This adventure is suitable for nature lovers, thrill-seekers, and anyone looking for a truly unique experience in Iceland. Our experienced guides provide all necessary equipment, safety instructions, and ensure every participant has an unforgettable journey.

Additional Details:

Activity accommodates up to 12 participants at a time, with a 1:6 guide-to-guest ratio. Larger groups are rotated to ensure everyone gets a turn on the zip line.
Optional Pickup/Drop-off from Reykjavik is available for an additional 175,000 ISK per group (max 6 pax), which automatically makes it a private tour. This option appears at checkout when available.
Please wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes, and be prepared to be amazed by the spectacular natural beauty of Iceland’s glaciers.

Wanderung zum Gletscher

Once you arrive at the glacier parking lot, your guide will begin handing out your gear for the tour. This includes crampons, a harness, a helmet with a headlamp, and hiking boots if you rent them. Once everyone has their gear, you will take a 40-minute hike to the edge of the glacier. The hike is relatively easy for most and will have you walking on moderate elevation, yet slightly rocky ground the entire way. We will always go at the pace of our guests so you can take your time and enjoy the walk as your guide leads the way.

Gletscherwanderung zur Zip Line

Als nächstes werden Sie Ihre Steigeisen ins Eis legen und sich auf den Weg zum Sólheimajökull-Gletscher machen. Wandern auf dem Eis ist ein einzigartiges Gefühl und kann etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig sein, aber am Ende der Tour möchten Sie Ihre Steigeisen nicht mehr mitnehmen! Wenn Sie das Knirschen unter Ihnen hören, werden Sie vorwärts marschieren und Ihrem Führer den Gletscher hinauf in Richtung des Moulins folgen, wo Sie auf die Seilrutsche springen. Während dieser Zeit zeigt Ihnen Ihr Guide verschiedene Formationen auf dem Gletscher, die als Moulins oder tiefe Gletscherlöcher bekannt sind. Während Sie die karge Landschaft um Sie herum bewundern, werden Sie sich wie in einer anderen Welt fühlen.

Nach deinen epischen Sprüngen auf der Seilrutsche geht es wieder den Hang hinauf und vom Gletscher in dem Wissen, dass du einer der wenigen bist, die hier in Island so etwas Besonderes erleben durften.

Return to the Sólheimajokull Car Park

Sie beenden die Tour mit einer Wanderung zurück zum Gletscherparkplatz und einer 30-minütigen Fahrt zurück zur Gletscherlagune, wo Sie sich von Ihrem Reiseführer verabschieden und Erinnerungen an einen fantastischen Tag im Katla GeoPark haben.

Bei Stornierung innerhalb von 2 Tagen nach Beginn wird eine Gebühr von 100% erhoben.

This Glacier Zip Line + Hike involves roughly 2 hours of total hiking. The first half of the terrain is very flat yet rocky and is relatively easy for a person of average fitness. The second half is hiking on the glacier which goes up a gradual incline for about 40 minutes. The overall hike is rated as easy with some areas of moderate exercise.
For safety and quality reasons, the zipline requires a minimum of 6 participants to operate. As a result, public group departures do not run daily. We do our best to group participants together on the same departure to ensure the activity can take place.
Private departures, however, are available daily, all year round, and can be scheduled at your convenience.
´No-fly´ Zip Line Tickets sind für Gäste, die am vollen Tourerlebnis teilnehmen möchten, außer auf der Zip Line zu gehen. ´No-fly´ Tickets haben die Möglichkeit, ihre Familie, ihre Lieben und Freunde auf der Zip Line zu beobachten Sie werden keine Möglichkeit haben, die Tour vorzeitig zu verlassen und müssen beim Guide bleiben.
