The elders say that the harsher the night‘s frost, the more intense the colours will be. Swirling and swaying overhead, displays are usually greenish-yellow but white, red and pink lights can also appear.  The Northern Lights superjeep tour is dependent on the weather and sky conditions and we reserve the right to cancel at any time. If the evening tour goes ahead and the Northern Lights are not seen, we will offer you to try once again for FREE! The free try will never expire as long as we are running the hunt for the Northern Lights but the FREE try will always be pending on availability, if we need to cancel all your nights due to bad weather and you did not do the tour at all, you get a full refund (this does not apply if you did the tour and did not see the northern lights, or if your your second attempt is cancelled due to bad weather)

Make sure you book your Northern Lights tour in Iceland for your first night in town in order to maximise your chances of seeing the northern lights. Please note that the size of your group can grow if we’ve had to cancel several nights in a row due to weather. We do indeed try our best to find Northern Lights for everyone!

This tour lasts 3-4 hours. Free pick-up from your hotel in the capital area begins at 20:00.

From 15/09 – 31/09 and 15/03 – 15/04. The pick up starts 21:00 due to a longer daylight.

Why was the tour canceled tonight?

A team of experts considers the weather and aurora forecast every day to see if the conditions are favorable or not. If the odds are against the aurora being visible for some reason, we cancel the tour. If we cancel the tour and you are unable to attend at a later date you can get a refund.

We did not see the lights on the tour yesterday and we are not able to join the tour again during our stay, can we get a refund?

If you were on the tour, a refund is not possible. However, your ticket is valid as long as we run the tour so if you come back to Iceland, you will be able to try again for free. How far away from the city do you go and where?

The average time heading out to the first stop is usually within an hour. The direction of the tour is decided shortly before departure and based on the weather forecast.

Why are the lights not as visible as they appear in the photos?

The human eye usually perceives the northern lights as faint shades of light green, gray, and white. However, can capture more of the aurora's colors and details, thanks to their long exposure features and other capabilities. As a result, the lights may appear brighter and more visible in photographs than they do in person

Good to know before

This tour depends on weather and activity, therefore sightings are not guaranteed. Indicated return times may vary due to road & weather conditions. If you are not able to see any lights on the tour you can reschedule once for free, but this will always be pending on availability.

The tour is scheduled daily, however, we may have to cancel the tour if the forecast for the weather and the aurora is not promising enough. When a tour is cancelled, those who are booked can change their booking to another date or receive a full refund, given that you have not been on the tour before.
