Selárlaug is an outdoor geothermal pool in the Selárdalur valley, approximately 30 km southwest of Vopnafjörður in Northeast Iceland. The pool is fed by natural hot spring water and set against a backdrop of green valley walls and birch heath — exactly the kind of authentic, uncrowded community pool that makes Icelandic bathing culture so appealing.
The site is peaceful and unhurried, typically attracting local residents and the occasional adventurous traveller willing to venture off the Ring Road. There are basic changing facilities on site. The drive through the Vopnafjörður valley to reach Selárlaug is itself scenic, passing farms and river gorges.
The pool is managed by the local municipality. Summer hours (June 1–August 31) are Monday–Friday 10:00–22:00, Saturday–Sunday 10:00–18:00; winter hours are reduced. Admission follows standard municipal pool rates (around 1,000–1,200 ISK).
